Click to expand Likewise, any EQ or stereo enhancement plugins that are essential to the sound and vibe of the mix should be left on.
The better you like your stereo mix, the fewer stems you need. More concerns about your mix, make a greater number of stems. Be sure you leave your computer automation on for each stem so that every sonic move you make in your stereo mix is retained in the stems. You can check your stems by loading them into a new mix session. The combined separations should sound the same as your stereo mix file, but just more open and less compressed. This is normal and not something you should worry about.
When you place your bouncing markers, leave some empty audio space at the beginning and end of your track. If you want the mastering engineer to bounce your track with the first beat happening right at the start of the audio then let him know. Leaving space at the end of the track allows any reverb or other effects to decay naturally. This can help him transparently remove any unwanted noise or hiss throughout your track if necessary.
Part of the problem could be that your PT session is maybe playing in 24bit and when you bounce something and listen to it It shouldn't sound different though volume wise Last edited: Feb 19, When you are mixing, you are looking for what is called the "universal sound".
That means that you are trying to make a recording that sounds as good as possible on every system you play it on. What the music sounds like out of your monitors is not the way it's going to sound everywhere else you play it. Use your monitors as "reference monitors", which is what they're meant for. Make a mix and play it on various systems: cars, home stereos, different PCs and laptops, etc.. After doing this over a period of time, you'll Learn how to get your mixes to a minimally acceptable level every time, then you'll be left with just tweaks for the remainder of the mixing process.
And if you're mixing with PC speakers and headphones, you're never gonna get a good mix. U need to invest in monitors. This is going to sound stupid as hell but keep in mind i'm very new to all this What is a monitor and how does it help plan what the bounced mp3 file will sound like?
If its a problem with bit rate, then how can I playback my file on Pro Tools in 16 bit then bounce to disk as 16 bit and see if thats the problem?
LostProfit New member. The problem is that you quite simply aren't hearing the bounced file, you will probably be hearing some form of floating point representation, whether it's 24 or 32 bit.
