Bottom line: A great hammer driver-drill for work in tough conditions. Not ideal for concrete, but will handle just about any other material.

Best of all, the price tag is very affordable. This is a very solid all-purpose 12V compact drill. Its lithium-ion batteries chargeing takes only 30 minutes, so you always have a reliable drill ready to go for day-to-day light fixes around the house or shop. Delivering up to in. It does come equipped with a built-in LED light for dark conditions and only weighs 2. It delivers great power max torque 1, in. This means longer battery life, longer tool lifespan, and more power in a lighter package.

To that end, these tools weigh just three pounds each, with the large 3Ah batteries installed. More than just lightweight, these tools are very compact. If you often find yourself trying to squeeze your tools into too-small spaces, then the Makita kit might offer you a solution. However, this kit is considerably more expensive than similar competitors.

Power-wise, this kit is on par with the DeWalt kit in our top spot. The impact driver makes 1, inch-pounds of torque, while the drill only manages inch-pounds. Nothing to write home about, but certainly not lacking in the power department either. Pros Brushless motors Lightweight and compact size Dual 3Ah batteries provide plenty of run time Cons More expensive than other kits 5. But at just two pounds each, these tools are probably the lightest of all the ones we tested.

The tiny impact driver in this kit manages inch-pounds of torque at speeds up to RPM. But the drill manages a more impressive inch-pounds of torque at RPM; pretty hefty stats for a 12V tool. Though not as powerful, the smaller 12V batteries do have another advantage; they charge quickly. These ones charge fully in just 60 minutes each. Pros Very small and light Batteries charge in just 60 minutes Cons Not as powerful as the other combo kits Expensive for what you get 6.

Though not quite as expensive as the Ridgid kit that earned our premium choice recommendation, the Milwaukee Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit is quite a bit pricier than most of the competition.

In fact, these tools seem pretty average. The impact driver has the same 1, inch-pounds of torque that the DeWalt kit makes, but the drill makes just inch-pounds of torque. The one thing this kit does to earn the higher price is the warranty. All Milwaukee products are backed by a five-year warranty, ensuring that your investment is protected for quite a while. For us, the DeWalt kit represents a better value.

That said, the drill does pack more of a punch than the drill in the DeWalt kit that earned our top position. This means improved battery life and a longer lifespan for the tool overall, and it helps to explain a bit of that higher price tag. Still, for the price, we think they could have offered more. Unfortunately, this kit includes just a single battery. This is a serious inconvenience, which is why we prefer the kits that include two batteries. The drill manages inch-pounds of torque; not too bad.

But the worst thing about this tool kit is the battery life. Worse, the batteries included in this kit are just 1. These tools are underpowered. Despite being weakly powered, this drill and driver are bulky and cumbersome. All of these kits include a drill and an impact driver with a battery or two and a charger.

Though two tools might look similar on the outside, they can perform drastically different in reality. For impact drivers, your benchmark should be around 1, inch-pounds of torque.

Less than this and you might encounter problems when using long fasteners or working with harder materials like hardwoods or metals. But form factor plays just as big of a role when choosing a new drill and driver combo. A bulky tool can make it much harder to work in those tight spaces. So, more powerful tools are often larger and heavier. The opposite is also true. The larger chuck allows you to use bigger bits.

Plus, it gets a tighter grip on the bit, so the bit is less likely to spin.
